Oak Project

Oak Project is a hand-woven knitwear collection inspired by the oak forests of the Zagros mountains in Iran. Each cape is knitted entirely by hand with two knitting needles, without industrial machines. One cape takes about 100 to 120 hours to complete. Natural wool and cotton are used, so the garments are durable and safe for the environment. The motifs are first drawn freehand, then prepared as carpet patterns, so the knitting follows the method of a hand-woven carpet. Sizes are woven to order using standard clothing measurements.

Kinematic Konnection

Kinematic Konnection is a garment made from laser cut acrylic pieces. Hundreds of gold jump rings join roundels measuring one inch by one inch, cut from smoke colored acrylic sheets. The pattern was calculated mathematically, and sample variations were tested to millimeter accuracy to set the ideal width and thickness. The glossy surface returns subtle reflections, much like a mirror. The joinery balances movement with weight, referring to the pressure of unrealistic standards of physical image in ballet. The linked structure also allows pieces to be added or removed to adjust the fit.

Monologue

Monologue is a transformable fashion collection that provides portable private spaces for the wearer. Each garment holds lightweight, expandable structures that open to form a personal shelter and close again when not needed. A dress becomes a sleeping bag, jackets include built-in face coverings, and tops expand into tents. The structures are inspired by the engineering of children's pop-up books and are built with tailoring materials such as neoprene, silk-wool blends, cotton twill and horsehair. The linings are printed with hand-painted, calming imagery in monochrome tones.

The Metamorphosis

The Metamorphosis is a handcrafted garment inspired by the ideas of mutation and evolution. The design is based on exaggerated animal skeletons shaped to fit the human body. The resulting forms suggest a cross image of human and animal. The garment is made of biodegradable plastic, leather and hair. The plastic is scrap material that is hot pressed with hair to form a fabric. The leather and hair are recycled from studio leftovers and barbershop waste. Arm, hand, front, back and foot parts can be removed and reassembled for easy wear and later replacement.

Alternative

Alternative is a genderless fashion collection of fourteen items, including tops, bottoms and outerwear. The collection is inspired by ancient unisex garments from Western and Eastern cultures, such as the Greek chiton, the Roman tunic, the Chinese shenyi and the Thai jongkraben. Each item uses flexible connections, materials and folding, so the fit can be adjusted to different bodies. The garments are presented on male and female bodies. The intent is not to hide the body but to blur fixed dress boundaries and support self-identity.

Night Tales

Feiyang had a passion for all the dark things. The night creatures; the witches and the forest. She found them mysterious and incredibly inspiring. This collection was inspired by a series of dark fairytales. Feiyang wrote her own stories then created weird, enchanting characters. She designed garments that fit the protagonists' characteristic. Instead of thinking of possible garment shapes first, Feiyang derived lines, forms and texture from nature, like butterfly wings or tree barks, arrange them in various ways until certain forms grow naturally out, which can be applied to the human body.
